BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman
The conditions might be challenging but atmosphere at Mt Panaroma is second to none in the motor racing world. I spent many a race week when I was younger camped behind the pits there and it seems they haven't spent a cent on the camping area still! Do they still have the about 10 doutle adpaters into one power pole outlet? I have a photo of it somewhere I will have to dig out and post.Guaranted that you will get the full spectrum of weather in a one hour period on the Mountain on Sunday but when that weather changes so does the race! Good luck to the Mysandman crew that are at the Mountain this weekend for the Great Race and hopefully the race is a corker!
Anthony

well what can i say about bathurst...what a great time we had..
left my place 9am thursday and dawdled down the road stopping a few times to check strange noises as it was the big vans maiden trip as most would know if they have been following this thread http://www.mysandman.com.au/forums/s...f-a-bigger-van..
had no great issues except for the dizzy strating to squeal from a dry bearing we belive..it finally went away, and a piece of chassis to camper body packing worked its way loose and fell off..stopped and walked back and found it.
as soon as we hit the mountains it started drizzling and by 50 k out of bathurst it was raining quite heavily..had a wiper blade come loose so stopped and fixed that..
got into the campground at 3 pm where our mate met us at the gate and guided us to the camp site..already very boggy and we did come to a halt once but manged to reverse back and take another shot and got to where we had to be.
took us a matter of 10 minutes to set up and crack the first home brews.
because it had been raining earlier in the day practice was run late so we wandered up to watch that.
thursday night we got on it and met a big tongan kiwi that was there on his bucks weekend...he was great to meet but bad at the same time.
friday started at 6.30 am watching races..touring car masters are my fave..we went back and forth to the track and back to the camp god knows how many times through the quagmire in the morning.
lunchtime where sitting around and johnno the big tongan kiwi came down and started feeding us bundy premiums...very nice of him but needless to say we had quite a few.we did manage to go and catch up with skid behind the pits in the evening where we helped him drink some more of his bundies and also got a nice inside tour of the vodafone pits.
saturday started around the same time as friday and our plan was too watch the touring car masters race and then catch the bus into bathurst to get some supplies..plan worked well but we ended up in the knickerbokker hotel at 10.10 am...oh dear..
got back to the campsite with liquid supplies..more bundies at around 3.0 pm..
rod and jennie came over through the mud to pick up some shiny bits and we had some more bundies..
after rod and jennie left we took some of our bundies up to johnno to repay his kindness from the day before....NOT GOOD..
we all drank way too many bundies and i carried on till 3am with my mate otto..
race day for me was a strain..i did manage to get up to the track and watch the start but after the start i went back to bed and dozed on and off all day watchin it on the tv in the van.
sunday night was quite subdued and i had no problems sleeping.
moday started ealy with a big bbq feed for brekky and then we hit the road at 9am.we had no probs getting out through the mud..
we only had one hiccup on the way home where an esky top flew off a ute as it was passing and smashed into bits on our front bar.as we discovered further up the road it had put a pinhole in the radiator.we decided to drive on and when we stopped for fuel it had amazingly repaired itself so we just topped the water up and kept going..home at 2pm..
as i type this i am finishing off the couple of bundy cans that were still in the esky.
definately going again next year but i must try to do that alchohol abuse course first...the one where you abstain from drinking whats handed to you.
some pics here...http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h4...thurst%202011/
