Can anyone tell me for sure, how much difference it makes putting the ford extension housing on the T5. Ive read its only about 20 mm forward? Thats probably not going to make much of a difference is it?

Has anyone fitted or seen one fitted to a H model using that extension? Does it still mean the butchering of the floor?

Admittedly though; i think the supra 5 speed behind the 304 is the way to go.... Its already there and I know i comes through the floor in the right spot.

Byron can you enlighten me anymore on what the difficulties are in putting a VS commy tank under a van? I was thinking I could get a mate to weld up a frame which the straps could bolt to, then that frame could be attached to the van? Done properly of course.. Is that the way youd have to go?

It'd probably be easy done if the body was off the van. The VS sedan tank is long and flat, HZ commercial is sort of square - very different shape. Not sure there is enough room on a ute/van for it either in the original position. I tried fitting one in my Overlander tonner and it just fitted between the cab member and the shocky member and it'd fit lengthwise but that is where ute/van chassis is shorter. Where it would fit is where the spare wheel is, simply strap it against the steel that the spare pushes against. Not sure how you'd go for a filler though. I do have a circuit you can build to make a VN tank sender operate a HZ fuel gauge if you go that way.
Just thinking it might fit up above the line of the rails against the body above the original tank's position, but it'd mean strapping it to the floor and hence holes through the floor. Might also be too high for a filler.

I understand what youre saying. Sounds like its something worth trying, but I wont really know until I get under there and start trying to fit things.. At the moment I have a gas tank there which is bolted through the floor so another few holes wont really make a huge difference. Can always use the original tank if I have to but the VS one would be sweeter. For the filler, if the angle is do-able, Id probably use rubber piping from where the filler neck is cut anyway, which is more flexible.

I've got a dellow bell housing from t400 to Aussie with a thread for fork pivot on each side so if I had either push or pull clutch all I need is the right clutch fork then I made a bracket that bolted in same position as rat trap brackets on side and fitted a cable end mount and the right fork it all worked in my old vb crummy dore when I head back home I'll photo the bracket it's easy if it has the thread each side

If you want a full cable setup just find a later HZ or WB V8 clutch pedal and cable, but you'll also need to get a full cable bellhousing for the box and that suits the TH engine (so a Chev to Supra/Hilux box),

meh, forget about the holden V8 and late 5 speed, put a late LT1 reverse water pump engine in it with a 4bbl and Muncie, or just go Big block with Muncie, nice 454 vette style engine with the came setup, set of alloy heads, lowe intake from a vette, set up mounts so hood clearance not an issue, pwr steer and fridge will bolt up, make it look factory...nice, H series Holden with a fatty...
