    5. Does the T5 with pulse convertor fit under the tunnel OK?

    6. My biggest concern is where the T5 shifter comes out as I dont want to cut the body.
Theres some cutting involved, and boxing, to fit a T5. Here's some painful to look at pics for example.
Everything else fits under the tunnel OK.

You'll need Engineering for cutting that floor member as it supports the seats.

And not the kind that Mr Scott brings! The boxing was done to get it past engineering and keep the strength. But that was 10 years ago....

Whoa. Thanks guys. Byron especially. Theres plenty to go on there.

Its not something that Im planning to do straight away. Just something I might work towards once the torana is done.

Those T5 conversion pics of tidyvans are pretty scary! I dont want to be doing that to the floor!

So another question then. How would I go if I wanted to connect the supra 5 speed with the 304? Would that work? I know its a push clutch fork setup but could I change it to pull/cable and use that? Would it be strong enough?

Found this on my travels too. Pretty interesting....

Were doing the Supra 5 speed 304 in my brother in laws Lh torana atm it should go very close to the original floor shift hole
same as your hz might need to trim a little its pretty close to the same size as a all Aussie box

There are 3 different stick positions for Toyota 5 speeds.

I had a W55 in a HJ sedan behind a 202 and it fitted fine with the floor and the console.

    Thanks guys.

Ive been reading up on stuff and mosy people seem to think that the T5 is the best option but the supra is still considered pretty good and up for the job. Sound about right? Id probably get it freshened up while its out, and Im guessing I could get an OK price for a Holden V8 T5 with new gears and sychros, to cover some costs....

I already have the supra in the HZ with the correct crossmember and speedo cable etc, so that makes things easier!

I dont know what speedo cable it is in the car as i didnt do it. Is the thread for the supra end of the speedo cable the same as commodore T5 or is it another size? I have the pulse convertor already so Im just wondering if that would work or Id need one with different thread?

Also what would I need to bolt the 304 to the supra as it also needs to change from push to pull clutch fork mechanism....? Im assuming I wouldnt be able to use the T5/304 cable setup bellhousing?

Is the 308 in it now a manual or auto (TH) block?
