Bit of a thread dig here,

Does anyone have a van they use for work?
I've got SGIC telling me they'll only do agreed value for 5700 (a substantial reduction from last years agreed value) for my HZ that's a HX sandman replica without windows. I can only find rusty cars with windows for that sort of money.

I just rang Lumley and Shannons who tell me they can't cover me as the car gets used for work.

If anyone is in a simlar boat I'd love to hear some solutions. The idea of driving around building sites uninsured or seriously underinsured doesn't thrill me as a concept.

    Hi,
I'm in the Insurance industry and i have found Shannon's to have the best reputation , they seem to understand Unique Vehicles and their use. The old story , especially in Insurance , if the price is too good to be true , it probably is !!
Always check what the excess structure is , and make sure you Disclose any skeletons or driving history you have , Insurance companies can decline a claim if you have not disclosed your convictions , either vehicle or "Other" ??
I have my toy with Shannons , approx $350.00 for 12k Agreed Value in West Aust , but the work vehicles are all self insured..
    1983 WB 253 "ute"
1975 Sandman "ute" Sold in 1983 (Tragedy)

Question since your in the insurance industry i have to ask how can insurance companies find out things about you
isnt there a privacy act or something like that

The reason i ask is i have been told by someone they cannot get information from the police dept is this true or not

I can only speak for the company i deal with , and they cannot find anything out about you , unless it is common knowledge. No way can they go to the police for any information without your knowledge or permission. You are correct , the Privacy Act is there to protect that..
Happy to discuss in a PM , don't want to upset the administrators of this site by a heap of verbal insurance BS..

Insurance BS is more than relevant to the members on here. I'm sure the mods wouldn't have any problem. This is the stuff we want to know to avoid the pitfalls and understand the situation.
