i was with nrma vintage and veteran for years but moved over to shannons for a few reasons..1 being better cover for less money and also nrma would not do my shed..took everything to shannons including my house which got the shed covered automatically for 10k.
i had 2 claims with nrma and they were ok but i had 1 claim with shannons and they were fantastic to the point that it was almost annoying.
i looked at lumleys a while back but didnt see any advantage to changing from shannons with the policy i have which covers 9 cars and 1 harley..plus house and shed on another policy.
laid up on hq ls350 coupe for 16k is $115.62
laid up on hq gts 350 coupe for 85k is $338.
laid up on our 71 transam for 50k is $202.49
club rego for 69 ram air 3 gto for 63k is $271.37
full rego on injected wb van for 25k is $420.72.
the boss womans vx ss is the dearest at 14k for $527.60
harley is an 82 wide glide shovel and its at 12k for $223.56

A couple of quick calls so far:
RACQ yearly premium $569 ($500excess) for $6700 worth of vehicle (maximum they will do for my WB van)
Shannons yearly premium $487 ($500excess) for $9000 agreed value. Daily drive rates. Would drop to $360 for limited use under 2 days per week.

How would they know if you were using daily or limited use?

The km logged at each annual pink slip would be one way.
If you made a claim, and they investigated it, then an interview with a neighbour or work colleague could spill the beans too - seen this happen to 2 mates when I was younger - one was not insured to drive his mother's new fairlane on a regular basis, wrote it off, and the neighbour told the investigator he drove her to the station every day. They refused the claim.

I'm also with Shannons. I had the van on "laid up" insurance for $15,000.00 while I was building it then converted it to full comp when I got rego. I think "laid up" was only about $110.00 per year. They insured it for $28,000.00 and the premium only went up by $20.00-$30.00 per year but as a "limited use" vehicle. Thats Ok as I only drive it on weekends anyway. I also get a discount for multiple cars because I have the Chev and the hot rod insured with them as well as my house and contents. The thing I like with Shannons is I have wreck retention rights so, if something does happen, at least I get to keep my cars.
