    Keeping the original rego plates

    Hi guys,

Does anyone know how to go about re-registering old plates without being reissued new ones? I have the original rego plates that have not been registered since 2009 and would like to keep them if possible.

Has anyone done this before? Dose the RTA cause any dramas? well more than normal.

    Cheers

easy and only way to it, you need to purchase these plate as a new plate ie, check there still available online, re rego the van, with them and then put these on the bench and screw on the old ones instead, dont i say dont tell the RTA you have the old ones causethey will take them, you will have to pay a annual fee now cause you are ordering plates but its the only way toget around this, trust me i did it with a mini a few years ago, now for a fact I never hand in plates to RTA, I keep all the old girls for original restortaions in the future

    Ah, I see lol.
I thought if plates were not handed in they could not be re-issued? I accept that I could be wrong though.....

you are correct james..the system in nsw was changed some time ago..you must hand the plates in to apply for them again and then pay a fee every year..
