    How about this one Mick, it started life out as a Mandarin Red HX Sandman van with 308 and T400, Brisbane built and XX7 plated, converted to an Overlander in May 77.

    and mate imagine it now - is it still like that - i can only hope it didnt end up as a beach ute and now is a pile of rust somewhere. why would you cut up a nice mandarin van when you could just convert a V8 standard ute. If you are going to go to all that trouble -FAIR DINKUM - WHERE IS THAT TIME MACHINE? I NEED TO GO BACK AND SAVE THESE LITTLE BEAUTIES!!!!!

    It was listed on Ebay early last year as you see it. I guess someone bought it when it was an Overlander van and wanted a ute so chopped it down.

    Sandman vans and utes were purchased new from GMH and converted to Overlanders by an engineering firm in Tassie. I'd love to get one but they are few and far between nowadays. The owners selling them think they are worth a fortune even though they are stuffed or highly modified. The one above had a buy it now price of $20,000.

    Mick don't stress, I know what you mean would be good to go back in time etc.

    There is a positive side though;
    The more Sandmans that go to pulp or scrap only increases the rarity, value and desire of the ones we aim to faithfully restore.
    Economies of scale, less Sandmans + Demand = greater value.

    Hehe, I saved them when you posted them up on SXV.... brought back memories of when I did the same thing to my old red HJ Sandman... I remember chopping into the rear with the air panel cutter and Oxy like it was yesterday.
