Alternator and bracket for HJ

Is there a particular alternator I should be installing for a HJ 253 that will run a/c? Are altenators off the shelf these days period correct or do I go through the hassle and expense of locating an old one?

Seems every HJ engine bay I look at, the alt mounting bracket is different - any tips as well please?

Mine is a 3/75 308 with factory A/C and still running the original alternator (albeit with a new voltage regulator fitted about 6 months ago)
