    Yes that's what I did.
Well I didn't weld it . It gives just enough room to fit the factory aircon brackets.
    cheers

It is a bit hard to see in those pics what you did with the throttle body/manifold, would you mind talking us through it Nath if you get time?

    OK here goes.
First cut off the flange where the throtelbody bolts on. Try and get it as square and flat as possible.
I use a thin disk on a 125mm angle grinder. YES I know this is dangerous but if you spray the disk with liberal amounts of wd40 or similar and or use dry lube like candle wax it prevents the ally from building up on the disk and causing balance issues.
Then place the manifold on the engine with all the accessories bolted on and GESTIMATE where the flange needs to be so when fitted it misses everything.
Mark where it needs to be cut and cut it.
If your not sure then remove small amounts at a time and sneak up on the final position gradually.
Keep in mind that the mating surfaces need to be as close a match as possible so the welder does not have to fill holes and gaps.
Finally I position the flange where I want it and drill and pin it into place .
I do this so it can be trial fit before welding. And so the welder gets it in the right spot.
Just one point If using steel pins make them easy to remove because welding ally with steel inclusions is not pretty.
    Degrease thoroughly.
Then take it to your preferred fabricator.
I usually clean it up with a die grinder (dipped in kero or wax to stop clogging ) and run a file across the flange to make sure it is flat.
You will also have to cut a notch out of the ac bracket so the pcv valve fits.
I hope this helps I would have explained earlier but I thought it was self explanatory .
    Cheers

You could do what I did and remove the injection set up. I used a dual plane Torque Power manifold and a 750 square bore double pumper Ultra HP Holley. Incredible performance gain. Up to S%$T fuel economy but who cares.

I haven't quite finished under the bonnet yet. Can't decide on a set of tappet covers.

The whole point was to keep the efi and do it cost effective.
The whole conversion including new tail shaft motor trans electrics and radiator cost less than $1500 .
I could have kept the original 253 if I wanted a carby
