In the early 90s I went to a few B&S balls out west to catch up with mates from school, including wbute on here. I would take the sandman and natuarally sleep off a skinful of grog in the van overnight. There were rarely any other vans out west, most of the guys had utes.

Anyway on one of these nights, 2 young ladies, who I had met through mutual friends, ditched the idea of sleeping in the ute with their respective boyfriends (it was frosty night) and decided to sleep in the van with me. Nothing actually happened, I was a perfect gentleman (idiot), but on the upside my mate wbute came to see me in the morning- opened the back of the van- saw the girls and quickly whipped the back down with a hasty sorry. I don't think I ever told him that it was more innocent than it looked.

Years ago....my wb pano was all decked out in crushed velour with red downlights and handcuffs hanging from the upper tail gate hinges. One fine day, a few friends and i were playing with 'Mary Jane' and ran out of supplies.....so me being the dumb arse i was, i drove down to the local to get some papers and cruised down the street with the upper tail gate open (as you do)......thats when the red and blue lights were in my rear vision mirror!!! Turns out, the officer just wanted to know where i got the hand cuffs from and pretty much told me to have a nice day!!!! Dodged a bullet big time!!!

In the mid 80's I took my girl friend for a weekend to Ivanhoe western nsw for a week end for a party and to meet some of my cousins .in those days when I travelled out west I had a Dwyer 4 post bar that only took about 20 min to remove the bumper bar and install, which is good that I did because on that trip I think we only hit 1 big red.anyway after lunch on sunday we said our good buys and headed home at our normal reasonable rate of knots, after 50 minutes of driving along dirt roads three wheels appeared in the top of our windscreen which turned into a plane .the initial reaction was to panic and apply the brakes the second reaction was to get the UHF and offer him some pg13 advise .It did turn out to be a funny thing he got us good because dirt road didn't hear him ,van limited rear view so didn't see him but on the reverse side we were traveling at a fare rate so it took him a couple of short cuts and 50 minutes to catch us.at the time it did feel like the plane was going to end up in the van with us.it's one of those stories that get relived over a beer ever 10 years or so .

My first car on my P's was a HX Sandman 5L 4 speed, 1st gear was gone in the box and i was driving along and saw some mates on the side of the road, hung my head out the window and threw some cheek, when i looked back around i was on the wrong side of the road heading straight for the local police car coming the other way, i just about crapped myself and of course they pulled me over and just let me off with a warning, then i had to start off in 2nd gear on a fairly steep uphill slope, the cops just shook their heads as i drove off, this is the best pic that i have left, wish i'd known back then what i had and looked after it a bit better, oh well.
