We put a pool in about 3 years ago....best thing we ever did. We are also surrounded by trees....they are in both neighbors yards and hang over our fence but we never get that many leaves that it becomes a problem. The pool is salt and has a cartridge filter....forget the sand filter...too much work. It's also hooked up to solar heating to get a bit more use out of it. As for maintenance...bugger all! We clean it probably 3 or 4 times a year and that's usually after a storm. We have a little vacuum unit that walks around the bottom of the pool that I call Julia.....it's always moving forward, has absolutley no set direction and it sux...big time. It's also connected to the WOW hose (Windsor Oakshot Wilkie) and cant move anywhere without it.
I'd be lucky to spend more than 1 hour a month looking after the pool....it's great.
