Just wanted to check.

Are Penite oils still a no-no?

My Hilux takes 10W-30 as standard oil, but specifies 10W-40 if towing.

The only 10W-40 synthetic I can find is Penrite. Others are all 15-40 or 5-40/50.

I had heard that Penrite has no detergents or something like that and leave nasty deposits in the engine.

I can use 15W-40 but would rather stick with 10W if possible.

Certain that there are plenty of dirt bike oils that are fully synthetic in 10w-40. Try Motul or Silkolene and see if they do oil to suit cars. No doubt its the same stuff anyway.
