Rim Help...

I have seen people machine the inside of the alloy (ie US racer Indy type) rim where the hub sits to get a better result. I personally wouldn't recommend this practice as it could significantly weaken the wheel to failure.

I think they used to make them really thick in that area and machine them to suit different offsets before drilling the stud pattern. I've had them before where the hub of the wheel was about 3" thick and you needed special wheel nuts to reach the studs. Must have generated some extra force on the studs and wheel nuts.

The joy with steel rims are that you can get the offset changed to suit whatever your needs are.
EG i have a pair of 15 x 8 Cragars that i'm going to get the centres taken out of to put in some GTS centres. I'm not going to do this till i see what flares i put on the rear.

i have a pair of 15 x 8.5 American centrelines on a WB statesman with 4. 7/8 inch backspace and there is still plenty of room.

Thats very interesting... Whats the difference between WB commercial rear wheel set ups (wheel arches, diff length etc) and a WB statesman one???

I may be able to fit 8" on the rear...

Hey Adam, do you have any pics?? and the size of the tyres that are on them??? and is the statesman lowered???

You will fit 8" rims on the back, if they are the right offset, tyres aren't too tall and it isn't lowered much.
