    Leave the wheel off.
    Put the wood up against the stud face so it goes to the top of the inner guard.
    Then measure distance "A" backspace and "B" depth.

    What i do is measure A + B (say 15") minus width of rim (say 9") that gives me 6" of space.
    Allow 3" each side and then i can work out backspace and depth needed.
