Im going to take the tarp hooks off my HZ ute before paint but ive never removed them before. do they just jimmy off? can you get new hooks if they break or new pins if i break them?

We are doing the same with our Ute, I think rares do some reasonable ones, they mostly crack off as they are brittle from age....some may come off but others may break...jimmy off carefully I am thinking...let me know how you get on...

When I took mine off I just took the plates off on the inside of the tub and hit them out from the inside with a rubber mallet. None broke but I lost a few pins. But I bought a whole new repro set for $15 off ebay and 2 years later none have broken.
Go easy as it's easy to put dents in the panels levering them.
Go to any autopro store they get aftermarket good quality replacements from a company called tuff tonneaus out of melbourne...

Geez, when my HZ was new, the hook's used to just pop off as soon as you put any tension on the rope. They must toughen up after 32 year's. ha,ha.

when i took them off my hq(although i dont have the slightest idea how i got them off lol) you can see clearly in the paint under each is says "australia" upside down, good old aussie products not chinese crap
