    Blast from the past

    I was asked to email these pics today, and thought you all might like to have a look as well.....these were taken in 1980-81 the blue van was a HQ metalic painted van which had been modified with all statesman caprice trims etc.

    The yellow van was also a Belmont with a chev motor in it....

    The white van with windows was just a kingswood HJ with a 202, but was later given a 308 with a 4sp out of a written off HX red van, not sure of name of colour...the guy who wrote the van off, replaced it with the blue van pictured.....

    No I didn't really take many as film development was expensive.....I could have another one of the line up, I am missing an album, when it turns up, I will put some pics on.....

    standard equipment in the vans in those days was the good ole bean bag...:lol:

    Strange how one of the first things to go on the HZ Sandmans was the front spoiler???

    Front Spoiler

    Rodney had two goes at it....he hit a culvert on his way home to (farm) repaired it, then hit a fox....gave up after that..I never saw one on it...will def have one on the new ones though...will drive more carefully....

    i reckon yellow would have been the most popular colour to buy back in the seventies, most of the vans i see for sale these days that have been repainted are originally absinth yellow

    very nice pictures there mate . i might have to get a bean bag and chuck it in the van from now on , seems like a good idea lol

    Interior of Original van

    Hi all
    Just came across a couple more pics of our van in the 80's must have been just before we sold her as the personal plates were no longer on the van, and the new station wagon is in the drive way.

    We always thought the van was buckskin, but it seems it was tan, so we have an exact replica of what we had....
