I used plastic bumper bar primer as the paint as it adheses well and is almost perfect colour/sheen match for the original black. While I was there I repaired the two top corners where they'd cracked the top 5mm off them by carefullycutting repair sections from the doror dash and welding them in place.

Pretty happy with the result, that much I don't really want to list it (the whole refurbed dash and gauges) on ebay.... Hmmm.... Dilemma....
Thanks mate, it is very satisfying to know that you fixed that and it looks good... I think it will hit me more when it is fitted to the car...

Yeah, it's a shame that you have to wreck other stuff to fix it, but it is better off in the long run to fix the one that is worth more money...

How did you build it up to the right height??? Did you just melt more plastic onto it and then sand it back further??

Yeah, I am pretty happy with my results... I would do it again if it needed to be done, but it is such a slow tedious process... :(

Don't sell it mate, no one will appreciate the work that you put into it... They will probably cut it out to fit a stereo in it.. It will only go up in value, and you can say that you fixed it and saved a genuine holden item from the scrap heap..
