Yes Sean. All consoles I have or have had that are factory coloured are painted. Not coloured plastic. Same goes for glovebox lids.

Thanks Jason, I thought they were but memory often plays tricks on the mind so figured it was best to check.
I wonder if soda blasting would get the original paint off successfully to get it back to a black one? Might get a glovebox lid and try it.....

I thought the plastic was dyed the final colour. The one in my WB was blue inside and out and I painted it. As for glove boxes they were definately not painted. They were dyed as well. If you scratch them they are the same colour all the way through. If they were painted they would have scratched far to easily.
I am wrong, just ran down to shed, console in shed is blue over a black base. :o
yeh I doubted myself about the gloveboxes as soon as I posted it.
I will have to give it a go and scratch one of the 200 odd HJ-WB lids I have. haha. Yes I did collect them for a while =)
