Another of those vans that supposedly cant exist Met. paint Belmont , with those big slab sides the Dublin Green would have really stood out, and bench seat and 4 spd combo

Bloody Brisbane! It is not built during Sandman era which explains what it is, and probably why it has metallic.

AND despite it being a bench seat M31 M21 HQ V8 Belmont van in metallic (which makes it rare to start with) it has a 3.55:1 diff, which puts it right up there in uniqueness. This would be a 1-off. I doubt there would be another like it. Leroy, I have the VIN for it too if you'd like it.

You could always order a metalic Belmont van, in Queensland at least. I did it in 1973 and friends were still getting them in 1974. My sister's boyfriend had a Cyan Blue Belmont sedan with V8 and four speed in 1973 also. Must just be Brisbane. You couldn't oder a console in a Belmont van but you could get metalic paint!

Not normally though, it is clear in Ordering procedures and on paint charts. Anything was possible if you knew how to use the order form, but it was definitely not the norm. People managed to get all sorts of officially not-available things built in HQ, metallic paint on Belmont is one of the easier ones but so far it appears only Acacia Ridge did it. Just look at the L30 MC7 HQ Kingswood sedan that was at the Warwick Monaro Nationals as an example, us normal plebs would never have got that through. Or the 4 x HQ Premier wagons in L30 M41, or the Kingswood ute in L30 M41 (not the Ewe't but the second one).

Mine came from Irving Holden in Ipswich. Some of the guys with other metallic vans in the van club got theirs from Zupps at Mt Gravatt others from Armstrong Holden at Rocklea. I never heard of anyone who couldn't get a metallic colour of some sort. Montery Green was popular as was Cyan pre '74.
