Hi everyone its me again,
But this time a question to you all. (eventually)
When I first looked at purchasing my brand "NEW" (rub it in Ha! Ha!) HX Sandman in 1976 the dealership gave me all the brochures and paint charts to make up my mind.
I spent a long weekend with my parents taking me around to all the other Holden dealerships close to us around Sydney who had some on their lots to try and see what the colours and interior combinations looked like in real life.
I really wanted the White Van and tan interior but because my absinthe Yellow was sitting in the showroom dad talked me around because it was protected and out of the elements, unlike so many others we had just seen.
Trouble was when we moved house I was at work on site and my family had to try and pack up in the rain, and guess what?
The tarp dad had over the back of the ute caved in and a wall of water went through all my papers and other memories and all turned to pulp.
He threw out a lot before I had a chance to check anything and amongst it all there was a clear acetate transparency that had the Sandman screen printed on it in different poses so that you could pass it over the paint charts to see what the colours looked like for a guide.
Does anyone else out there know of what I am talking about or seen the same thing over the years at all?
I think it was only ever available for the 1976 HX models and have never seen anything like it before or since.
Appreciate any input.
Bye for Now.
