Mine is at the Panel beaters getting the gutters repaired, the lower rear quaters repaired and the cowl and associated rust areas in and around it. It will hopefully be back at my place in the next week. On top of that I have stripped the engine and other the bootm end is perfect but the heads had to get recoed. I will put it back together this week. I will post some pics with some before and after when I get it back.

This weekend Rodney and I worked on our ute. I completely stripped the steering wheel of all powdercoat, and Adam painted it, we fitted newly chromed bumper bar, rodney took the dash out and foound we need the metal under dash piece as current one is cut out and where the bonnet cable is, it is broken. Rodney and Adam fitted all the lugs the tonneau cover rope fits under, this proved quite tricky but with some thought sorted it out. I will put a picture up tomorrow.

we went to a car club bbq to look at a members amazing collection of tractors and original holdens, we drove our van and did a couple of laps after and stopped at our local pub. One of our friends from long ago asked was that our van and how nice it was and remembered rodney's van from yesteryear lol

Got my van back from the panel beaters and he has done a fantastic job. Passenger side gutter has had some major repairs, both bottoms of rear quarters had dents and rust removed. The cowl panel was fully removed, rust repaired in the lower section (underneith the cowl) the "A" pillars were repaired just under the cowl, then a cowl panel was made out of 3 original cowl panels and then re-fitted to the car. Before it was fitted I had to give him my front guards so that the cowl sat at the correct height to the guards! I need to save some more money so that he can fix the sills and some more smaller sections of the gutters.
My engine has been recoed, along with the gearbox which I will pick up tomorrow. Rust repairs have come up awsome!DSC03046.jpgDSC02864.jpgDSC02866.jpgDSC03048.jpgDSC02862.jpgDSC03049.jpgDSC03049.jpgDSC03043.jpgDSC03047.jpg

Well today a major milestone was reached with the rebuilding of my plain jane HZ ute. The radiator was installed again and after four months of front end rebuilding, the motor was finally started again with a new battery. Fired up brilliantly. Perfect motivation to get the annoying bit (wiring repairs) done.

Love the HX, especially the gun metal grey GTS dash… set it aside from rest in my opinion.

Yep, HX is sadly under-rated in the world of Sandman. Just a throw back to its poor rep at release in the 70's. HJ was just as evil handling and was plainer to look at, but is accepted as an equal to HQ and HZ. Who knows, utes are worth less than vans but are heaps rarer.HX is less desirable than other series but is essentially exactly the same as the others.
