    Yep, HX is sadly under-rated in the world of Sandman. Just a throw back to its poor rep at release in the 70's. HJ was just as evil handling and was plainer to look at, but is accepted as an equal to HQ and HZ. Who knows, utes are worth less than vans but are heaps rarer.HX is less desirable than other series but is essentially exactly the same as the others.

    I dont think it was the HX's looks but the reports of the journalists at the time commenting that the thing hardly idled. The poor attempt at tuning the engines for the ADR requirements made them lack the power of the predecessor. The HJ 308 was the most powerful with its reported increased compression and bhp over the HQ but fell away sharply in the HX guise. That doesnt help the sales when you read a car runs badly and uses more fuel.
