I like HQ-HJ stripes, just no fan of HX-HZ stripes.

I just looked at the HG and HQ commercial vehicles order forms. LH side mirrors were mandatory on commercials in 1970 and 1971-2 in QLD, VIC, TAS and WA. HJ would be about the same. I looked on buickzz's broadcast sheet but I can see drillings for the LH side mirror, so my guess is dealer fitment.

Its not the green Blocker, it is the style that is so cool. Green would be one of my last choices, but I'd rather that HJ in that colour than a striped HX in any colour.

Here is a close up of the HJ brochure. I'll check a couple of other sources too.

I've had a look at some other pics since you pointed it out and some, as per your pic, are towards the front of the door but if you look at Leif Muliks (spelling?) Green HJ van pics on this forum his look to be similar to mine....or maybe it's just my eyes. Anyway, it doesn't matter now...I'm not going to weld up the holes, move them forward and repaint the doors.:errf:

That wasn't what I was getting at, I was wondering if it is a plant based thing. Left side variaton I understand as I believe these are dealer fitted.

Sounds about right. No LH mirror on my HJ Statesman, which may or may not be the reason for the big scrape down the LHS.

Sandaro should have some info on this as his HJ is in the family from new.

Awesome, what a great looking van. Well done. Enjoy what's left of this soggy summer (in NSW at least)
