    Possible HZ Sandman ute

Hi all, have been told that my 1979 HZ ute may be a sandman and I would appreciate some other opinions. Vin Plate-8M80TJL444353Z, Body Plate - Model HZ8WM80 Body 444353-A Trim 1934-63C Paint 567-30525 Eng L31 Trans M21 RRAxle GV4, ADR plate- GVM 1950kg Seat 2 Build Date 3/79 Chassis CHZ49648A. Engine No. ZT22392 with a build code 20M8. Chassis number matches and the ute has yellow needle GTS dash, twin headlight front and courtesy lights as well as the fuse near the brake booster that i read about for high beam. Tyre placard number is 9942988 which I think is for a HX Wagon but Im pretty sure Ive put in a different glovebox in a few years back which may explain that number. Cheers Travis

Nice. Atlantis Blue Metallic too. Would have been a classy looking ute in it's day. Got any pics of it now?

Congratulation's on your ute, that would be close to one of the last made.

I've had ute about 12 years but it was my local mechanic who has a sandman who suggested that it might be while working on it. I did it up a couple years back and cut most off the rust out and painted it a lighter blue but I'm thinking about bringing it back to its original colour.

GVW tells me definitely a Sandman. Unless you (or whoever did it) is very arsey that is the original engine too.

Good on ya for telling him about the site Bern. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there that would have recognised it for what it is and taken the opportunity to try and buy it as an "old holden ute" in order to turn a quick profit themselves. Good spotting and good karma.

The ute is my pride and joy, and even if it wasnt a sandman I would never sell it, but i will be able to appreciate it a bit more now knowing it is as I have always admired these classics.Tthe only problem is I have three young boys who will all want me to leave it to them.
