HJ Help Please

A rust free HJ Sandman shell without tags would be worth good $ especially if no side windows, maybe $2000+ for the shell. HJ Sandman van is a unique shell, unlike HX and HZ which are basically the same as a Kingswood van. Thus HJ Sandman van shells are very hard to find.

Nice colour combo too, and having tags and hopefully those match the (not crashed) chassis. But on the negative side it is only a 253.

Don't go silly on it though as it'll cost significant $ to get good panels, the right dash, seats etc before you look at paint. Add it all up and compare to a van ready to go like the HZ Bern was selling.

Thanks very much for all the good advice!
I will have to see what sort of dollars will get it out of his paddock and into my shed. It does have a single window on either side up the front and the chassis rails looked nice and straight.
It is in the original color with the black outs and thinner stripes down the sides, thats what caught my eye to begin with!

Great find. I have a HX Sandman, and in the near future I am going to look at an alleged HJ Sandman some distance away. I will do my homework before going to look to ensure the trip is worth while.

Hi All,

Went out and had another look at the Van tonight and its going to be quite a project but the farmer was happy to get rid of it! Still has seats and dash etc sitting in the back. The chassis numbers match and it hasnt been crashed.
Cant wait now to get it in my shed and start playing.
HK here is the tag no you wanted 8m70rfh36xxxxj. What more can you tell me off this tag about the Van?

Nothing from that tag, I already have that number (worked it out from the other ID you posted). It was the chassis number I was after. All I can tell you is that is the right VIN plate for the BODY plate ID you posted up front in this thread.
