i think that sandmans are still relatively cheap.
remember these are basically GTS spec utes and vans...and their values in my opinion are still less than that of an equivalent HQ-HZ GTS 4 door.

a GTS ute / Van has to be worth more than a 4 door monaro?, right? thats my 2 cents

i also think the $$$$ gap between windowed and windowless is widening....

a 350 monaro is not equivalent of a ute / van.
    what i meant was a 253 , 4 speed HQ 4 door monaro V 253 4 speed HQ sandman ute or van

I would imagine that the amount of Sandmans being discovered has probably decreased their value. They clearly made a heck of a lot of Sandmans. It is the supply vs demand that determines their value.
Sandman utes may well end up being worth more than vans as people start to appreciate how much more rare they are to find. Might take 10 years for this to become reality though. Thats about when the ute driving generation will be at the time in life to start restoring cars.

so true James, I am sure that the reason Sandmans have come into their own is because people like us ( R and I generation) are at a stage in life, where our kids have stopped being dependant and our houses are mostly paid for, so we can now afford to restore these icons as a hobbie.......

I had a VY SS wagon at one point and i thought because it was so rare that it would have to be worth a bit. Turns out it was rare because they did make many (obvious) they didn't make many because there wasn't much demand for them... and apparently that was still the case. In any event it took me nearly 6 months to sell it.

I believe that while sandman vans are more prolific than utes, vans will always be worth more because the market is far hungrier for them. apparently a sandman was only made in a van :topsy_turvy: also there are a TRUCK load more utes around still that can be mocked up into a sandman at the drop of a hat.... try finding a good windowless van to mock up!

I dont want to try and guess what a good sandman van is worth... i really don't have a clue. I know a bloke had a fully restored HZ sandy ute over here and couldn't get a sniff at $25K. oh and there is an HJ van that is a 'show winner' advertised for $70K. thats been on and off the market for 2 years

I think you have covered it well, these price ranges are about what they are selling for - some may disagree on the worth but it is about what people are prepared to pay.

I would have to agree with this. My HJ Sandman is in original, average condition and I paid 8,5 for it. Then again mine has the books and purchase receipts too to go along with it, so I felt 8,5 was a very reasonable price for what I was getting!

It's interesting what everyone has posted, as previously stated it is hard to determine what each others vans/ute's/cars are worth - its all individual - it is everyone's personal decision what they wanna pay for there new vehicle. But as MOOK was saying what about insurance price's? Do we just have to make an estimated guess?

Thanks HZSANDMAN for coming up with some price's..
