Go hard Sean - I'm with you on this one! The last time I brought the subject up about the legality and "selective" applicability of 5mm wheels to certain ADRs I was hounded down for being too anal about it even though I provided the regulatory link to it at the time. I also wanted the right wheel for mine even though I have changed parts of the interior of mine - such as CD player, speakers and I have also decided I like metalic charcoal over portland grey. I've been looking for an (at least useable and not bent, broken or just shagged) 5mm wheel for a few years to replace the one that went astray - have you found some good ones?
On the other hand I do understand the niche market that we are part of and that production costs (may) not stack-up but as I pointed-out to them the tooling costs do not change as the stamping machine that turns out the individual spoke pieces doesn't know the difference between 3mm and 5mm steel. I even suggested they looked at (a pseudo reconditioning service) re-rimming selected (on condition of passing in store inpection) wheels as there were an awful lot of HQ and many HJ machines (around 30% of the market I would guestimate, but that number is likely to shrink as time moves on) that this wheel was standard fitment for. It seems it is all too hard for them to even contemplate.
At least I would be able to remove the 3mm brown wheel I'm using at the moment (don't get hung-up on the brown stalk - I wanted to see what it looked like against the wheel):

Gene. I hear you but it would be like putting Alien's HQ GTS guards on your HZ.... It just doesn't look right....![]()
