I know that on the SLE's had a special spot in the centre console, but not sure about USUAL fitment in HJ & HX statesmans.

Just to clarify, the Stateman SLE was fitted with a cassette player but no 8 Track, just checked my SLE and the brochure. It is mounted in the centre console as is noted in this thread though.
