Looks ok but Byron will have a better idea. It could be close to the last of the Kingswood utes.

looks like another late HJ melbourne built kingswood sandman ute....
"All correspondence must bear these numbers"
It does, but nowhere near the last of them. You could buy these right up to HX. I have 5/76 plated ones.
Do you have the chassis number? Will be around BHJ125xxM.
It is also starting to look like HJ XU4 and later XX7 are 1800kg for 6cyl ute and 1860kg for V8 ute, the 1860kg 6cyl ones may be 6cyl with air.

Wow. 60kg seems like a lot for aircon. :-)
Welcome Jacko... a kingy ute would be top of the range in luxury. A 308 and she would be the king. :-)
I wonder if the fact so many are 253's is that they were made to send to dealers and not ordered by customers and optioned. They would of sold them off the floor to people just coming in looking for a commercial.

Just as many are 308, that are left anyway. 173 are the rare ones, followed by 202.
Trouble with those... at some stage of their lives they were worth more for the GTS parts than the car.

All Sandmans had that problem until about 3-5 years ago. GTS Monaros had the same problem 15 years ago. V8 ones were worth more to wreckers than 6cyl ones.
The chasis number is BHJ12587M. From new it had GTS guards, wheels, dash and steering wheel. Does this help with the question of it being a Sandman or a Kingswood? Thanks to everyone who has helped.
Jacko
What you have is a definitely a Kingswood. Whether or not it is a Sandman is the question. I'd be 95% sure it is, BUT HJ Kingswood Sandmans are the hardest to pick. The dead giveway is a factory console. Rest is easily added afterwards like fluted guards (look how many people have put VZ CV8 bonnets onto VT, VU, V2 and VX's). Dash and steering wheel were optional on most HJ. The console and lack of side rub strips are the only differences on the body between a HJ KIngswood ute and a HJ Kingswood XU3 (or XX7).
