    HZ speakers

G'day all. I've been investigating into if my 1979 HZ ute was an absolute bare bones car with no options originally. It has at one stage had a pair of 6" speakers cut into the doors, but until some members provided me with some info here, I did not know where original speakers would have been. I am fairly certain it did not at any stage have the optional 4" speakers in the kick panels. However I'm not too sure about the standard 7"x4" speaker under the dash. Upon inspection I found that there was still a section of plastic held in by each of the bolts that would have held the speaker in place. Each has a small burr and cut marks. I'm suspecting this may have been a standard speaker that was hacked off when the former owner removed the sound system.

Would it be safe to guess that these sections of plastic visible would in fact have been from the speaker provided in HZ's optioned with an AM push button radio? Does anyone have photos of the top and bottom of one of these speakers out of the car to compare with?

    Cheers, Evan.

I don't think the dash speaker was plastic, pretty sure it was all metal frame.

As mr.jones said, remains of demister plumbing. You are missing more than a speaker there. Those nuts were wing nuts from the factory.
The only standard speaker was the speaker that went up under the dash as in your picture. The door speakers would be fitted as a dealer or aftermarket set up.
Never were speakers in the kick panels either.

The demister ducting is still in place, only due to the zoom and focus settings used in the photos, it appears as a big black blur in the top of each photo.
