I think (me reading between the lines) that the place that was doing the resto for him used the images off the web to trick Mr Maitland into thinking progress was being made on his van and no doubt extracting progressa payments along the way.
Remember he was living/working on the otherside of QLD to were his car was. I'd say they nearly got caught out in April ( and presumably told him the car was stolen/recovered to hide the fact it didn't look like the pictures they'd sent him.)
No doubt he busted them in July and they took the extreme step of murder. RIP the Police have unfortunately located the bodies of Mr Maitland and Ms Masonwells
We thought that all along but didn't want to say to much...I think this needs to be taken seriously and people who are restoring classics need to visit the workshop before money is handed over, and be very careful who you use, and how reputable they are. Thank goodness we had Adam do our restos, he is so thorough, and reliable.
How sad for the families of that young couple, I hope the murderer gets life...

Wrong, it's just wrong. Life is worth too much, cars just aren't really, although some of us like them a lot.

Sandman...Just Drive It.!
Wow this sounded sketchy to begin with but just gets sadder as more info comes to light what a tragedy especially for the families who may never find out the true story.
not to be disrespectful but where is the van now?
I'm guessing it's still in the workshop or the police have it. They've never been looking for it and it appears that it was never restored as the photo shown with all the stories wasn't actually their van.
Apparently the Sandman was actually Cindy's. She already owned it when she met Scott.
Hey hope the police find it soon for you? Not good the pricks.
