Some people are just a**holes with no respect for other people or their property. This idiot prob didnt think too far ahead about any of this and now that hes come unstuck two innocent people pay the ultimate price. He's also ruined whats left of his own life. Its all pretty crap.

Approached correctly a donation towards something Cindy loved and make the Van go away - might just be the way to go about it.
Selling/Buying outright, most likely is not to the way to save this Van if that is the way the family feels about it. It will take tasteful tact with feelgood overtones. Otherwise this Sandman is going to be put down. Luckily it's "numbers" haven't been plastered all over the place so nobody will really know the history.

That's fair enough. Seen the same with motorbikes that people have lost their lives on. The family doesn't want anything to do with it and doesn't want to get a phone call 5 years down the track from someone asking for a receipt so they can register it.
I've personally reduced a perfectly rideable R1 to a pile of molten alloy at the request of someone's mother.
My mate was killed by a hit-and-run driver 2 months before our wedding (he was to be best man).
His mother got the bike repaired and gave it to his sister for her husband to ride. It was still in the family and she said the my mate was always on the bike with him.

Gee it would really be a pity to see a sandman like that crushed but I could certainly understand the familys sentiments though. Be nice if someone was able to save it. We have just over 1200 members on here, so if everyone put in $20 , we could offer her mum to use the 24k to have the van finished then she could auction it and donate the cash to a charity of her choice!!
