As I understand, the actual car in the photo belongs to Sandmanowners (post 36 in this thread). The restorer had lifted that photo from Sandmanowners project blog and sent it to Scott Maitland as a "progress shot". Meanwhile Scott's van had obviously not been restored and a substantial amount of money had been paid so the restorer told Scott it had been stolen. Perhaps Scott found this out in his enquiries and when he went to confront the guy the nasty deed was done.
I also realised after rereading this thread just now that Scott Maitland actually posted in this thread under the username Maito (post 7). Had never noticed that earlier.
