Hopper Knockers! Couldn't remember the name of them, but I like them - more of an inbetween size - not too big but don't look like you ran into the farm gate and left it on the ute ;-)

Always gets me how those 5 post bullbars are legal, but bug catchers aren't.

Yeah, and gauges on the cowl! God help the poor pedestrian that loses their life from the impact with a few gauges , But that bulbar.... no, that's fine.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

Might have a bit to do with getting home safely at night when you are in the middle of no where. The bug catcher or gauges might not really help you much.
Mrs coming home from photographing a wedding at Cobar. Hits a roo at 1am. 5 poster destroys roo. No damage to car. She does around 40000km a year on similar trips.
We have to have these things in Australia. There is nothing to be gained by one section of the car community whinging about another.
NSW has just been put through the wringer because of one Tamworth police and dislike of 5 post bullbars. They are legal.
If I hear that pedestrian thing trotted out again I will scream.
I could bring up the driving around with a tailgate open and carbon monoxide poisoning up. But I won't because that's part of van culture.

Don't get me wrong James, I don't disagree that they have there place for protection, but as I said to a police officer in 1992, wouldn't it be more concern for the broken hip and legs from the nosecone rather then the cuts and bruises they may get from the bug catcher.
He proceeded to tell me that I could have ACTUALLY been defected for the Statesman bonnet mascot because they could harm a pedestrian as well... go figure.

Yeah I don't disagree that the rules are stupid! I have no idea why they got so twisted up by a bug catcher either.
I still wonder why a Hilux can have a forward opening scoop got an intercooler from new but you can't have a bug catcher????
They are targeting caravan drivers now for overloading lol. They only target what's easy.... Can't work for something useful like ensuring all our country roads are at a 2015 standard, not a 1937 standard.
