Casey Stoner has announced his retirement from motogp, he's said he is interested in V8 racing- do you reckon he would be any good in the 4 wheeled version?

They said on the radio that he had been doing plenty of laps in one of the cars in the off season... Stoner will add plenty of media interest to the sport.... It will also give it an international spotlight so i guess thats good for the sport...
I dont really follow the v8 supercars as they alllook the bloody same to me.... Production racing was the best for me... I love watching he muscle car masters..... Now thats good racing.... As for the v8's i always watch bathurst.... Its all about the race moreso than the cars for me
he is such a talented bike rider its a shame to see him retire and as for V8 supercars i lost interest when Larry Perkins retired we spent 4 days at clipsal Adelaide this year but the main reason i went was to watch the muscle cars .Wayne gardiner went from bikes to V8s and he was a very talented bike rider but they soon called him captain chaos in the V8s so who knows, i hope he does well
I am of the opinion it is just another media beat up. The supercar organisation "need" Casey Stoner. They will use him to push next year's change in racing, where it will once again move even further away from sedan car's. I hope he enjoy's his retirement, he certainly deserves it, he has done Australia proud.
"Proud To Be An Old Fart".
I was a Larry fan as well (& with Russell as well.Castrol Racing WOO HOO!!!) and as far as i'm concerned HRT & Kelly brothers can go sh1t in their hands and clap.
Have been a Lowndes fan since 1996 and still am (GO Team Vodafone)!!!!
With Casey it MAY be a good thing but as long as he can drive it'll be all good.
In regards to Wayne "LEGEND" Gardner, we went to Bathurst in 2000 and watched him. Great ability and better person then "D1ckhead Doohan".
BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman
I dont think they need casey stoner to boost the v8 supercars they always pull big crowds but it wont hurt as i am a big fan of the v8s and casey went to last years sydney telstra 500 and had an absolute blast of a weekend well worth the trip as for casey in a v8 supercar if its true i cant wait
I agree V8 supercars has lost it! Bring on the muscle car masters, at least there is a bit of variety in the cars, even though not many people will like this my favorite bathurst was 1985 when walkinshaw one in the v12 jag, lots of different cars in the race.
V8 supercars need to shake up the dull thing they offer at the moment, bring back FPV vs HSV vs the world, dont HSV claim there cars match the worlds best cars!

Bad move I reckon. He isn't old enough to take a backward step like that. Each to their own though.
I hope Casey brings with him that hunger that made him who he is, and learns to apply it a bit better than Wayne Gardner did. I met him by chance at Raymond Terrace a few years ago when he was looking at the sounder installation on my boat (he was going to buy something similar) and he seemed a very quiet, unassuming, genuine bloke. I hope he does well.
I just find it interesting that every 10 years or so the governing body of whatever they call it at the time has a big "Ah Shoot" moment and knee-jerk reaction when they realise they've moved so far away from the original (Touring Cars) formula towards NASCAR that they seem to need to re-invent the sport/name etc. I remember the drivers assoc jacking-up about $$$ and not long after "V8's" was born.
Well gone are the days of "win on Sunday, order it on Monday". People will claim "it's big business" etc but those arguements are all crap. The sport has moved too far from its grass-roots to be relevant to the vehicles you and I drive, except in external appearance. You're not watching Holden v's Ford anymore, you're watching who can build the best load bearing spaceframe and carbon fibre roll-cage that takes the place of the original sheet metal and who builds the highest strung donk. Sure, much faster and safer for the driver, but the car has lost what makes it what it is... and the ability of anyone off the street to buy one and either drive it or go racing with it.
Nunc est bibendum...
Here we go again like i said in another forum you have to move with the times the old torana days as good as they were are over cause there going to race new cars when the vb commodore came out everyone said the same thing but we all moved on to bigger faster cars thats what racing is about not the old slugs they used to race as much as i like watching the muscle cars racing they are as slow as snails live as for v8 superscar lost it i think not 177000 thousand people in 3 days at the sydney telstra 500 tells a story the interest is still there for those that like v8 racing
