I purposely stay away from Facebook for many reasons, a few are as follows. It isn't secure, plus your IQ drops maybe 30% immediately you join. I've also recently seen people miss out on job interviews because of their facebook activity.

I use facebook all the time but I use into keep people updated on our activities mostly with cars etc. as I have a vast array of friends, I also have family overseas and my kids live away now. I don't use it put people down either. It's a good way of interacting with people And not going out In the evenings during winter.
