    Whats It Worth?? WB Kingswood...

Hi guys, I have found a WB Kingswood in town here and have gone and seen the owner and she (elderly lady..) said that she would have to talk to her son about it. It was his ute, but has been sitting for about 6-8yrs in the same spot..

I have got some details, but no pictures as it was almost dark.. :(

It is an original WB Kingswood ute that was built April 1984. It's body work is not flash, but I think is alright rust wise. From the quick look that I had it didn't have any rust bubbles coming through, but I will have a more thourough look next time I'm there while its day time.. lol

It has a dint in the rear p/s quarter panel (just behind the rear wheel..) its repairable.. and it has a few spots of surface rust showing..

The plates in the car confirm that it is a WB Kingswood 2 seater with a 253ci 4.2l with 4spd manual and a 3.36:1 diff. It does not have power steering or air conditioning.. :( It has the WB bucket seats and the factory centre console with a factory fitted WB GTS dash.

It still has all the kingswood badges, the side strips (some are held on by screws though.. :(), the plastic kingswood mirrors (in alright condition..) and the kingswood b-pillar stainless strips.

It has a 5 post bullbar fitted and a huge rollbar and some sort of mag wheels that I have never seen before, but they do look like sunraysia type ones I think.. lol

The other bad part is that it has been sitting so long that it has had a rats nest built up in the engine bay and they have now vacted it.. lol The motor has not been turned over in a while, so it may need a bit of work..

I am waiting on her son to call her and have a talk about it.. If they decide to sell it, how much do you think it is worth???
    Cheers,
    Matt

Sound similiar to mine, except condition, i would say with dents it decreases the value a far bit, also how is the interior if a seat is ripped that could cost a least $400 to recover 1 off as i found out.
The elderly owner of mine was not aware that all the front end bushes needed replacing
so onces pointed a few details of how much it was going to get it back on the road, he was a bit more negotiable.
It has cost me about $3k to get mine back on the road, i thought about $2k would have got it there at the start and that is a lot of the work done by myself.

Yeah, its not too flash but its able to be used and it would be going to a good home if I buy it.. Umm, from the quick look I had at the seats the drivers didn't have any rips..

Yeah, thats it I will have to go over it very thouroughly and move it out of the tree where it is parked at the moment..
    Cheers,

in a perfect world its worth $500....unfortunately the internet and armchair experts have pushed the prices up....if he has no mates and only uses the internet for porn then you may get it cheap....as for the 253 needing work?..its a cast iron motor, make sure its not seized and give it electricity and fuel and it will fire....good luck.

It really depends on if you really need it. Maybe the money is better spent on your ute you are trying to finish at the moment. You might get it for 1000 but then all your cash is tied up in another ute you can't do anything with. You will not want to wreck it out as you will want to keep all the good bits your self anyway.
A bargain is only a bargain if you really need it. Otherwise its just cash tied up you can't use.
If you got it for 1000 you would almost certainly double your money re-selling it on ebay. Thats the best option in my opinion. But having said that, I havnt seen it and you don't know what they will sell it for.

$750 max. I knocked back a rust free but worn and dented WB Kingswood a few weeks back. 253, M20, console, GTS dash, buckets, metallic, air, steer, driving. $2000 was my max price. Not worth anymore than that. Idiot B&S'ers had stuffed it a bit with big alloy bar and SS side things.

Righto.. I will see what happens and if they are interested in selling I will try and get it to run first and then decide on a price to offer them.. Thanks.. I hope it all goes well..

Thanks mate.. I would pass it up if it was a standard WB, but I have always wanted a genuine WB kingswood and the V8 + 4spd and the factory GTS dash are bonuses.. But the main thing is that it is all matching numbers and pretty much original except for the bullbar, roll bar, mags and the CD player..

I have always wanted a actual kingswood ute.. I will say no if they want too much for it, but I would be stupid to not take it if its cheap and then store it until it's time comes..

I definatley will not wreck it, if it was a standard ute I probably would take the parts I need off it and then sell it.. Same thing with selling it on ebay..

I'm not in the market to make money. I am in the market to preserve history and enjoy myself while I am doing it..

Righto.. So if I let them offer the price first and then be honest about how much it is actually worth.. If they say it has to be worth more than that, then I'll point out all the parts that would need to be fixed..

Yep, totally agree with you.. And they also choose the kingswood ones and not the standard ones.. If I do get it, I will definatley remove the B & S stuff and get rid of it..

Thanks for all the help guys.. You's have saved me a fair bit of money.. I would have paid a bit more than its actually worth.. lol
