Well thats a different set of values then. If you have always wanted a V8 Kingswood then its worth as much as YOU think its worth. If its rust free and has all the good options and you are seriously going to restore it, then it might be pushing 2k. They are fairly thin on the ground and only getting harder to find.
However it really comes down to the condition of the body and how original it is, also how many butcher modifications have been made to it.
If I found one in good order and original I would grab it and put it in my shed. They are my favourite HQ-WB commercial vehicle and I value them more highly than most people probably.
I wouldn't touch one with rust in it though. Lifes too short.

Yep, I have wanted a WB since I was 5yrs old.. and got that now, and I want to get a genuine V8 Kingswood ute to go with the daily driver.. And still have it later to have as a little project..

The body looks alright.. From the look I had, there is not much, basically bugger all rust bubbles showing.. and it has only had a few minor modifications made to it.. They can all be fixed easily..

I am very similar to you, they are my favorite because they are the so called 'ugly duckling' of the range.. and they were the last 'true' holden ute..
    Cheers,
    Matt

The ugly duckling thing is a new thing. In the 90's no one wanted to be seen dead in a HQ-HZ ute. Thats why there were so many HQ-HZ utes around with wb fronts and tail lights. HZ v8 utes were worth $4000 for the best one around and WB V8s were worth between $8000 and $10000. A good friend of mine bought a new WB Kingswood in 1984. He sold it in 1990 for more than he paid for it new. People just loved them cause they were the last Holden ute ever at the time.

would have to agree, 20 years ago when i bought my hz v8 it was $2500 and the equivelent in a wb was about $8000-$12000 for a good one, everyone wanted the WB and an HQ you wouldnt be seen dead in! sorry HQ blokes but times have changed, but i still reckon a good WB kingswood V8 ute will bring good money as there not making anymore and they are the last real holden ute.

I agree that a survivor is a good thing. I offered $10k for a red WB Kingswood ute, 6cyk 4spd, air, steer, GTS dash, 100000km, original owner. This was just before I bought the prem. All I would have done is put a 253 in it, rest was perfect. The V8 one I valued at $2k was only worth $2k max as it needed $10k in work: dents, paint etc. I would have wrecked it out though.

Don't try to get it running. If you succeed they'll want more for it. It's an old Holden v8. If they say it was running when parked then it'll run with the right amount of attention. You want to buy it as a non runner unknown condition car.

The whole " it needs this much spent on it so it's worth good one minus work needed" isn't always true though. You need to take the value of the parts it does have sometimes too.

I will also have to check the floors.. It looks pretty good.. But if it does have a bit of rust, I reckon it will be heaps easier to fix than some others I have seen.. Hahaha.. I would have done the same thing..
