There was bugger all difference between them if you optioned a V8, 4spd, buckets with console shift and U17 dash. Really just frontal treatment, blackouts, stripes and mirrors. In HX there was even less as 202 was standard on both and they got the same nose, so a HX Kingswood optioned with M20 4spd, buckets, console shift and U17 dash was only different to Sandman in stripes, mirrors and blackouts. The Kingswoods got the side rub strips which is the only reason why all HX and HZ Sandmans are Holden not Kingswood lux level on the ID plates. I've ignored wheels here as these were the most common thing changed either before or after sale.
I also looked seriously at going and checking this one out for the LH quarter panel, as my mate has a mint HQ Kingswood ute that has a mangled LH quarter, but after looking at how thick the paint and filler are on the crashed RH side I decided to give it a miss.
