Which is what I believe is correct. I don't have enough evidence to pin down a date, and as before there were 3 x plants building HQ van bodies and 4 x plants assembling them in 1974. So Dandenong change will be slightly behind Elizabeth, but who knows where Pagewood and Acacia Ridge were up to in stocks of van body parts ready for assembly (all body parts came from the one source).

Problem with talking to such blokes today is all they remember is fitting the tail-lights, or the headlining. Or the engine. Nothing much else, it was so mind numbing. You need to talk to others who moved around all areas. I know the maintenace foreman from Pagewood for most of the 70's, and have some great insights from him. It is truly amazing how different the assembly plants were. There are a lot of existing photos for Dandenong, Elizabeth and Acacia Ridge. Not many at all from Pagewood though.

You are so right HK, i have trouble remembering what i did last week, and i did have a HQ semi show van in 1980 and all i remember is the murals and the gts dash and that it was a 253 / 4 speed and thats about it, i will try and find a photo and post it ,

Hey mate, that is one awesome looking van!!!!!!! Its still a Sandman to me and a remarkable save of a true beauty, pat yourself on the back and be proud. A stunner in that colour and all HQ style with those vents, the rest of the vans, to HZ at least, missed out by deleting these stylie looking features of all the heritage predecessors. We are grateful to have such vans bought back from the brink and done true to the original specs and colours. HQs had the style!!!!
