hello , I am new to this forum and and need to ask the question with regard to the verfication of sandman utes , especially as we purchased the ute you discuss in this forum.
There seems to be a lot of grey areas when it comes to the verification and we used your web site when we were doing our research before purchase. We also visited a neighbor of ours who is
the second owner of a HZ sandman ute and has the original purchase papers which lists it as a sandman but has a gvm of 2200 kgs .We checked the vin plate on that ute against a few different sources and could find
nothing except for the xx7 stuff that takes any doubt away.I must mention that we are very happy with the ute we purchased and as it ticked a number of the correct boxes I was wondering if you can give me some
way of determining if it is or isn't . Thanks sarah
As Byron said, the code on the trim line could be a good way to verify. If the vehicle has a base model Holden body but is fitted with a Kingswood exclusive interior colour then it's most likely a Sandman. Put up any tag details here and Byron (HK1837) will be able to spot the important bits. Checking for the factory interior light door switches is another little subtle pointer to verifying.
Either way, you have a very well spec'd ute that looks the goods.

Another thing worth checking would be to look for any trace of the old blackouts (body sill under the front guards, inside door aperture). You won't find anything if it's had a full bare metal body resto but sometimes if the body is good painters will only do what they have to and leave traces.
Hi Thanks for your quick response.
i checked the sills and interior but interior has been completely redone and sills are painted will have to get underneath and check there for black.
It has footwell lights but as I said the interior has been totally redone so very hard to tell .
Trim code: 1890-67V
06/77 build date
GVM 2200 kgs
Seating Cap : 2
Model HX8W-M30
Eng : L31 stamped and matching
Trans : M41
Rear Axle GU4
Other plate matches the criteria on your website : 8M80TGL THEN THE SERIAL NUMBER THEN AN 8X
Thanks again for your help and please let me know if there is anything else I can provide to help. Sarah
67V tan interior doesn't reveal much as I'm pretty sure that it was available on all models.
The colour of Mandarin Red though is one that's pretty common on Sandman's and not so common on others. I'd hazard a GUESS that yours did start off life as a Sandman. It may be hard to prove beyond doubt, but then again it would also be hard to prove that it wasn't.
Hi , back again.
I appreciate your help and was just reading through some of the forum articles and noticed that hk... mentioned that the 67v interior can be for a sandman , does nayone else have an opinion on what we have or a way to verify.
I did check the the doors and they have the light switches for the door and what looks like an original inerior lightand also checked underneath whilst getting ready for the holden day in Bendigo tomorrow but cannot find any black as it all seems to have been painted. Just a note I also checked th paint code and it is originally Mandarin red.
Sorry i thought I had better finish this post off I know I persistant but I would really like to know. Thanks Sarah
