    My mate has been banging on about the new Subaru and Toyota 86 although he is looking at buying the Subaru model he currently has a 2008 GTi Golf which I must say are also very impressive, love the shape of the 86 but tend to agree with Alien shape is becoming more and more common btw other manufacturers. They do look like they would be a fun car though and value for money.

    Because they stopped making VZ's. Nothing wrong with a Crewman. I can't name another car you can buy right now for under $20k, can tow 2500kg easily, with leather trim, 5.7 or 6.0L V8 that drives like a car. And you can fit a pallet between the wheelarches. The mistake GMH made was to only make the 1-tonner as AWD V6 Cross6, they should have made them as a Cross8 too. I'd still be driving one of these if they did.

    I had a read about the Subaru, but they'll basically be the same as the GTS variety Toyota and be dearer for the same car. It'd be like being in the old days and be silly enough to buy a Lexus when Toyota sold the same car for less money! If they were the same price i'd look at it though.

    I have just traded our ex ambo VZ adventra Lx6, it was an excellent for towing, heavy duty rear springs, 215kw powerchip, 5 speed auto with trans cooler, pulled the our boat as if it wasnt there, Traded on a prado gxl 3.0 must admit not fast, but it also tows very well, our boat is about 1.6t fully loaded with fuel.

    STILL only a Toyota. Has a water cooled Dak Dak motor and is trying to look like a Supra (the only Toyota i'd ever own).
    Would still rather have the Monaro.
    BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman

    Agree Agro, but there comes a time when it has to be retired from active service. At least with this I can get her a safe and inexpensive car that drives the right wheels and has some semblence of power.

    Buck, the same baby Landcruiser with a 4.0 and A750F auto will tow even better!

    So "next few years" was more like "next few days"?

    I haven't driven it yet, but the purchase is subject to view and drive, which we will do this weekend. I won't see it before probably February, and if I didn't jump in now i'd be waiting for up to 12 months. Toyota are only getting 1800 in the next 12 months, Subaru only 200. So each dealer gets 2 or 3 initially and then one a month over the next 12 months. The dealer I paid a deposit at had already sold 7 before today, 5 of them yesterday. Two blokes came in whilst I was there to pay deposits! All want GTS manuals, so I may be able to get one quicker as I want the auto. No wonder they are selling so quickly, at under $40k drive away for a GTS manual, or under $35k for the GT manual this is a top spec Japanese made sportscar with no real peers - priced like a Corolla. The insurance for my mrs and me was only about $700pa and only about $1300 for a full 6 year factory warranty, which i'll wrap up into the lease. It has a Fujitsu Ten sat-nav unit which I want to see if I can hook up a reversing camera to - the other Toyotas have the same unit and have one.

    Gaddy, that is the colour I picked, but we will choose between it and the silver this weekend. I like the silver, mrs likes the Grey and it'll be her car to drive.

    It'll be interesting to see how these develop over time. The RX7 started out as a lightweight sports car and ended up a luxury, heavy barge. These are 15mm lower roof height than the CV8, about 300mm shorter and a liitle narrower, so easier to park and fit in the garage too!
