Just advertise a Van as a 2-seater ... seems really silly.

Certainly. Advertise a van as van with GTS bits on it and put photos of ID plates. That way you have never mislead anyone, and if it turns out to be dodgy you can't be accused of false advertising. What would be interesting is if a car was rebodied in its early days be an insurance company, and the case ended in court.
A very reasonable outcome for a change. Commonsense prevailed.

Couple of nuff nuffs defending themselves in a $100K case, may have been wise to get some legal advice.
What ever happened to 'in good faith' ?? pretty bazaar the defendants got hung out if they had no knowledge it was not a genuine gt themselves. It's as though they had been punished for turning a dollar on it. Ie 18 becomes 90

Yes you can, nothing stopping anyone from buying a GTS327 for $25k 10 years ago and selling it today for $125k. You just aren't allowed to do it regularly.
I think you can really only buy and sell 4 or 5 cars a year without requiring an LMD or LMCT number.
It sorta stinks that when the guy confirmed the numbers with Ford that they said yes, how come they didnt pick up on the possible rebirth then?

The issue is truth in advertising, not that the car is a fake or re-body. From the way I understand it, the fake is fine. It just cannot be advertised as genuine. So take it to a car show, bonnet up, For Sale sign. Say nothing. Then you are OK, and are covered just in case your car isn't as genuine as you think.
