the part the cable attaches to should just be 1 part with a big bolt ? and i think the other part you are talking about is the latch for the top gate i am away for the weekend but i will put up a picture when i get home unless someone beats me to it . if your brake lights work it must be globes or a broken wire but i doubt both of them would be broken and make sure all the wires from the trailer harness are separated and not touching the body or each other
