For an item of that cost, why do sellers insist on alienating buyers by adding in little things like "don't query my postage costs" ? It reads as the seller being inflexible and arrogant. Would you put up with those kinds of demands from a salesman in a shop? Would it make such a huge difference to ask $1250 for the item and include free registered insured postage? Personally, I'd pay more for an item from another seller if I thought I was going to get friendlier service and less chance of hassles with the sale. First impressions count for a lot when you're selling items at top dollar.
