    Gas Strut's On Drifters.

Read a "Modern Motor, January 1978" recently. It had a comparison between the XC Ford Sundowner..The Chrysler Drifter and The HZ Sandman Van's. One thing I found interesting, and it was pointed out in the comparison, was the Drifter had gas strut's fitted on the upper tailgate as standard. Must have been ahead of it's time.

    Cheers.

On the struts they were in front, but only because they left it till then (well mid '77) to make a panelvan for the boom that had started at least half a decade before.

If they'd paid less attention to the struts and more attention to rust prone water trapping parts of the body then there might be more left today.
