Mate, Chrome yellow with black trim. 253 and 4 speed. From the info on the plates it could be a sandman (ie nothing that says its not).

Got any pictures? More details of what its like?

Thanx Steve. I will post some photos in the next few days. I can't find much information regarding recent sales of HQ sandmans. Does anybody know what sort of money a good condition HQ Sandman would fetch?

I guess we havnt seen any really in good condition and not needing restoration to evaluate that.

Hi Vanfan and welcome. From the plates it sounds like its a good chance of being a sandman. Check the chassis number matches the plates. If possible look peer down the hole at the end of the floor console where the blanking plate or maybe an ashtray has been inserted. Look for a seat seperator console mount welded to the floor and the steering colume doesnt have a gear shift mount in it. The other things to have look for are the normal GTS items of the dash and loom, guards and steering wheel, evidence of blackouts along the sills and rear beaver.

Sounds like a rare find, well done!!!

Very hard to pick a HQ Sandman ute. You cannot rule it out from the ID plates, a thorough inspection of the body needs to be done.

Edit: I've had this one recorded from somewhere before, and as a Sandman.

Oops. I was recording two at the same time (one ute via email, and this van), and got crossed up! Same applies though, HQ Belmont Sandman are difficult to pick. If it has the seat separator / console bracket between the seats and it was originally a floor shift (which an M20 has to be) it is a Sandman.
