And living inland helps too. I love all the rust free cars I keep finding in Canberra. Our bad ones are still better than the good ones on the coast.

Hi Grunt, yeah I used Rust Bullet Automotive.

Its unlike any other paint I have seen, pretty intense stuff. I can do a write up if people are interested - theres some tips and tricks to know, I had lots of back and forth convo with the advisory mob for it. They were happy to do this as they want the user to get the best result, and its not like normal paint. You cant shake it, to mix (for instance).

It is a bit fussy to use, you have to time the job well, 72 hour window to recoat and over coat, its worth knowing it doesnt like prepsol, it likes raw steel, or painted surfaces heavily scuffed and prepped with Xylene, and it cleans up in Xylene which is full on, but the job is do-able with good protective gear. Its very thick and will clog a standard spray gun, but somehow it sprays on nice and thin, it pulls well too.

I am confident about it though, I cant imagine any other currently available rust proofing coating could come close to rust bullet.

For instance, I have some really badly rusted out sections in the rear 3/4 on both sides. Because of changing cicumstance, the car ended up soda blasted and the bloke doing the panels backed out on the job. I had to get the rust proofing on before winter, and so did the whole car including the rusted sections (just to seal the corrosion for a bit) so I could finish the rest of the body and cut out the bad sections later.

The result is exactly as advertised, the corosion (which I will still be cutting out of course) seems soild and really stable, it took primer easy and would take colour too. (if I could be bothered wasting the paint!)

I reckon I could leave it as is, in the weather for a decade or more and the heavily corroded area would be unchanged! When I get my top coats finished I can post some pics of rust bullet application if anyone is thinking about using it.

P.S. I dont recommend soda blasting for a whole car, having mentioned it, it was very difficult to properly remove the soda residue. Weeks of work!

i still have a can of fisholene and have done most of my cars with it with good results. When i did my monaro i waited for it to dry and also used a topcoat. I have used POR and KBS etc but really dont like just painting over rust like they say you can
