Gonna have to get one one day! I'm thinking I might get a Maloo and take it to AMCAT.

I wonder how the HSV purists would feel about that! lol!
I have a real liking for your Q'ee also. As for HSV purists - stuff 'em! Do they get all anal as well?
I know of at least 2 VE Maloos that have been done. Personally the Maloos do nothing for me outside of the performance. But, each to their own. The world would be very boring if they were all the same.

Mate, I also had the very same feelings. I have a couple of other early Vans and I love them very much. But you do get sick of chasing roof gutter and side seam rust.
Nothing like having a modern comfortable ride with all the features. Though mine is hardly new, being over 10 years old now. Search "Innuendo" on the Majestic Vanners forum for more info.

I like the V series converted sandman's. To me they are a Sandman, and they look fabulous. I think the styling of the V series is spot on. The conversion is true to how the sandman should appear in the new millenium, well done.

I'm negotiating to buy one now!!
Will paint it black but it is a HBD original so will be a welcome addition to the family stable.
Will put some custom 1 off Sandman stripes on and tuff wheels and poss a Mad Max mural on the side panels..

6 Cyl versions are not normally over 15K a STORM maybe a grand or so slightly more.
Genuine HBD can only be VY Series II and VZ. HBD Tag will be drivers front with Option: CAN

Brand new canopy fitted is well over $7000 painted and fitted so you have to factor that into a Ute purchase.

Should you buy one, you are sure to enjoy it.
Personally I wouldn't be going for anything less than a much loved, low Klm's, V8 SS.
But it all depends on your desire, cash flow and requirements.

There is a Genuine HSV HBD Black R8 Maloo VY SII on offer in South Australia (Super Rare)

Let us know how you get on.

    Regards, Smooth

I have looked at that one too alien!
When I was looking at a couple of monaros they had I spotted it at the back of the yard. I checked it out and was pretty unimpressed with the condition of it. The monaros were in pretty much the same shape.... Needless to say I didn't buy anything from them. I ended up with a neat BF XR6 turbo, for about 5 grand less than the shabby monaros they had! Some people don't deserve nice cars....

HQVAN....yeah his yard is full of ex hoon cars......really doesnt give you a good vibe being there

That VZ pictured...if that wasnt in an accident i'll eat my own shoes. Look at the bonnet gap. Thats a mobile phone pic so imagine seeing that in the flesh......old mate seems to think they are so rare, he'll get 25K for sure. The 70's mustve been really good to him
