The rule on tray overhang is 60% of wheelbase of the vehicle. Looking at the photo you have to say that even with a lazy axle the it would be overweight on the rear axle set on the ute carrying the LJ. Add the cabinets they have perched over the roof of the cab I'd say they would be hard work to drive when compared to a little 5 tonne truck. But they definetly earn style points! I rekocn the way to go is a little late model Isuzu truck chassis with a D5N Dodge cab grafted on. Late model runing gear with old school look. Fair bit of hard work though.

Worried about the bed being too short or overhang if you make it longer???? Just whack a 3rd axle under it and you should be right!!! Still a bit of overhang there though. This is from 1997.

That 8 wheeler or one very similar is sitting, rusting away in a Newcastle back yard. It has been sitting there for at leat 10 years now. It has exhaust stacks on it. Last time I saw it, it had the same wheels, was red and had a WB Caprice front.

That's the one I spoke of earlier. CJ's Holden Spares in Queanbeyan had it and replaced it with a Chev C30 type tilt tray.
Wonder if they've stripped the driveline out of it. Do you know the exact location Byron?

Dunno. I'll ask. Useless to me except for the fatty. Cab and panels will be r00ted, but the chassis and tray will still be OK. It isn't a tilt bed anymore I don't think, it is a flat tray.
